  • TIPS FOR BOILING EGGS:
  • Remove eggs from refrigerator at least ½ hour before boiling
  • If an egg cracks while boiling, lower the flame and pour salt
  • When boiling a cracked egg ,add lemon juice or vinegar
  • Keep dipping the knife or egg slicer in cold water when slicing hard boiled eggs
  • When stuffing ,slice off a piece from the rounded bottom of each hard cooked half

 

  • TIPS FOR FRYING EGGS:
  • Fry eggs just short of the point you like before sliding them over onto the plate

  • TIPS FOR POACHING EGGS:
  • The fresher the eggs are ,the better
  • Butter the rings of the poacher well before using

  • TIPS FOR SCRAMBING EGGS:
  • Remove the pan from the heat while eggs are still slightly underdone

REQUIRE TIME FOR COOKING:

  • Eggs kept at room temperature: First of all water is brought to boil and then the eggs are put in after which the flame is simmered . This methods takes:
  • 3 to 5 minutes for soft egg
  • 6 to 8 minutes for medium cooked egg
  • 10 to 15 minutes for hard cooked egg
  • Eggs kept in cold water: The water is brought to boiling temperature and flame reduced to a simmer. The eggs are put in and it takes:
  • 1 to 2 minutes for soft egg
  • 3 to 5 minutes for medium cooked egg
  • 10 minutes for hard cooked egg

Interesting Information of Egg:

  • The eggshell may have as many 17,000 tiny pores over its surface . Through them the egg can absorb flavours and odours
  • Egg albumin contains approximately 9.7 to 10.6 percent of protein
  • Egg is primarily rich in vitamins A ,D, and E, B2, B9, and B12
  • Monounsaturated and Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids(GOOD FATS) account for about 69% of total fatty acids found in eggs. Only 31% of the fatty acids are Saturated (BAD FAT).
  • There is small amount of carbohydrate in eggs—- in the form of glucose , mannose and galactose.

Another facet of egg is presence of cholesterol to the tune of 213 mg per egg. Nowadays eggs are coming with cholesterol as low as 117 mg. Thus, humans can consume 3-4 eggs per week without any harmful effects
